While her accent was a little hard to listen to, it was her invariability that made it so hard on the ears. For example, when the character is to have spoken in a forced whisper, she read it in full voice just as loud as the rest of the narration. Her emotions rarely changed and she didn’t read the characters like they were written. Good fiction narrators don’t just read the book, which is what she did- making it bland and boring. She did not differentiate between characters making it hard to tell who was who. But the narrator was hard to listen to from the start. I am a voracious reader and wanted to like this.
